This Texas native grew up around musicians and played in bands. At 16 years old she would go on to perform at various talent shows where she would then acquire recording sessions in Nashville, Tennessee. Displeased with the pop direction the label head’s wanted of her, she went her own way, back home to Texas in order to learn guitar from her father. This would result in her self titled album and eventually her auditioning for the relent competition, Nashville Star. Though she didn’t take home the first place prize, she did successfully manage to gain the attention of Sony Music executive, Tracy Gershon who later signed Lambert to the music label, Epic Records.
