Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band from Los Angeles, California. It currently consists of lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton, and multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar.
Adam Levine has stated: "Everything that's written and performed and put together pretty much comes from us. I just think people would be surprised to know that we're a self-contained unit. We're a band that does their own thing. There's no puppet master." Their style is funk, minor rock infused, with a bit of pop influence all mashed into one to make Maroon Five’s formula with Levine at the helm of it all.
Maroon 5 have been the recipients of three Grammy Awards, Three American Music Awards, and three People’s Choice Awards. With five Teen Choice Awards, and eight Billboard Music Awards. In 2004 they won a World Music Award for “World’s Best New Group.” In 2013, Maroon 5 ranked as the 94th best artist of all time based on Top 100 Artists of All Time at Billboard Hot 100 55th Anniversary. In September 2010, Maroon 5 released their third studio album Hands All Over, which was re-released in 2011 to include the single “Moves Like Jagger.” While the original version of the album received mixed reviews, “Moves Like Jagger” reached the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100.
With admirers and collaborators alike, from Rihanna, Mary J Blige, and Kanye West, Maroon 5 cannot be boxed into one genre, one fan base, or one feeling. This versatility has proved to bode well for the band not only in record sales but in touring!
They have sold more than 120 million records making them one of the world’s most popular bands.
On September 20, 2020, Maroon 5 released the song “Memories,” it served as the lead single for their upcoming seventh studio album. On February 1, 2020 the band headlined the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest, which was well received by fans compared to their 2020 Super Bowl performance.
