Kevin James began his standup comedy career in 1989 at a Long Island comedy club. He started building his popularity by making appearances on many different television talk shows and performing standup comedy. With this exposure, Kevin James was able to get onto Comedy Central’s radar as one of the greatest stand-up comedians.
Television and Film
Soon enough, Kevin James humor became infectious and he began his career on the big screen. He made a few guest appearances on the sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond. Later, Kevin James was notably known for his role in his own sitcom, The King of Queens, which aired for nine seasons. Kevin James played the role of Doug Heffernan, a package delivery man. With this role, Kevin James also received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
As his career in the sitcom scene was coming to an end, Kevin James moved towards films and starred in a handful of them! He made his debut appearance in the 2005 romantic comedy movie, Hitch, starring Will Smith and Eva Mendes. In 2007, he went on to star in I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry with Adam Sandler. His most known role out of his filmography is Paul Blart: Mall Cop, which he played the leading role as well as wrote and produced the film himself. As soon as the movie released in January 2009, it became the top film in the US for its opening day average and high-grossing opening weekend.
