The Goo Goo Dolls tickets have been selling off the charts for their North American tours for years!
The band’s original lineup included John Rzeznik on guitars and vocals, Robby Takac on bass, and George Tutuska on drums. The members had been long-time friends in grade school and met Rzeznik while he was playing in the band The Beaumonts with Takac’s cousin, Paul Takac and close friend Michael Harvey who was the inspiration for the band. The trio picked their name from a True Detective ad for a toy called a Goo Goo Doll which instantly stuck, although the members said they would have chosen a different route if given five more minutes in hindsight.
The Goo Goo Dolls rose to stardom with the release of their song Iris, which was given the honor of No. 1 pop song between 1999 and 2012 by Billboard. The pop rock band formed in Buffalo, NY in 1986, with plenty of additions of their songs in movie soundtracks and has remained a household name in pop rock that is still relevant to this day.
